Description

Beautifully crafted from bronze, Final Approach is a majestic piece to behold! The American Bald Eagle is caught in its most stunning pose.

Created using the centuries old "lost wax" method of bronze casting - still utilized today because of its ability to transfer exceptional detail. It is a multi-step, labor intensive method which requires every piece to be hand detailed and finished.

Item is shipped freight in a custom built container.

Bronze Care

Bronze Cleaning and Maintenance:

Bronze is a highly durable copper alloy. It can endure all climatic conditions and will last thousands of years. If kept inside, very little maintenance is required other than an occasional dusting.

Outside, when exposed to nature’s elements (or sprinkler systems), all fountains or statuary eventually begin to oxidize and will, over time, acquire their own verdigris (green) patina.

To maintain the original applied patina finish, a periodic light waxing will help retard the oxidation process. Any dirt should be cleaned off before waxing. Hard water spots or oxidation can be removed by rubbing gently with very fine steel wool (#0000). Spraying the area with a good wax spray first will make this even easier. Armour All wax or WD-40 are both good waxes and are readily available. (WD-40 is used to maintain the Statue of Liberty.) Then wipe the area clean and wax again. The rate of oxidation and necessary waxing will vary depending on location and climate.
